Hanalei

Hanalei Moon - Words & Music by Robert Nelson 1974 he wrote the music and lyrics to Hanalei Moon. It's been re-done by numerous artists. He also wrote the Maui Waltz, which is also a favorite for weddings.

 The music is by Sandii from her "Sandii's Hawai'i 4th" CD. The ladies are from Na Puakea O Ko'olaupoko in Kailua, Hawai'i and Halihali Ke Ao in Tokyo, Japan. Mehana and her hula sisters dance Hanalei Moon on Hanalei beach, Kaua'i.

Green Rose Hula

The green rose is called the "leaf rose". Laida Paia, Mrs. James Keoni Willis, a member of John Almeida's trio composed this mele (song) although it has always been attributed to John  Kameaaloha Almeida . She was the mother of Koko Willis and John  Kameaaloha Almeida  acknowledged and always gave her due credit when he performed it, especially when Koko or other members of her family were in the audience. Confirmed by Pali Lee, wife of Koko Willis who died in 1994.
