5th Annual "Come Together" Mater Dei Bazaar. A two-day fun-filled, family event, chock-filled with local entertainers, game booths, vendor booths, and a variety of foods(American, Filipino, Mexican and Hawaiian). Sat., Oct. 6: 10am til 8pm Sun., Oct. 7: 10 am til 6pm Raffle Drawing for big screen television and $$$

The 32nd Street Jazz Band (St. Augustine High School) opens up the 5th Annual "Come Together" Mater Dei Bazaar in Otay Ranch this Saturday, Oct. 6th at 10 am.

The fun-filled two-day, family event is chock full of local entertainers including: Rype & Raw Dance Crew Tabular Rosa (a Christian Rap/Rock Band) Samoan Youth Group from St. Rita's Parish Kaliloa O Kaleo Onalani (an excellent Polynesian Dance Group) Neisha's Dance & Music Academy FCS Kali West (a "HOT" Filipino Martial Arts Group) He Nani O Polynesia (An anwesome Hawaiian Dance Group) Da 2nd Wind Band (a local Hawaiian & Contemporary cover band) And lots more, including line dancing, karaoke fun breaks, a scavenger hunt, game booths for the kids, some rides, cotton candy, halo halo, pies, fish tacos, adobo, Spam Musubi...the list goes on and on! Aloha Hula Dance Studio of Granada Hill will be performing at 6:15pm. on Sat. Oct 13th.
Lyn-Del Pederson - the owner of Aloha Hula is a former member of the Okalani's Polynesian Revue & Mainland Paradise - so needless to say I have a special place in my heart for her and her family of dancers. Their show is fantastic so be sure to go and support them!   The Fall Festival is 3 days of family fun!

Green Rose Hula

The green rose is called the "leaf rose". Laida Paia, Mrs. James Keoni Willis, a member of John Almeida's trio composed this mele (song) although it has always been attributed to John  Kameaaloha Almeida . She was the mother of Koko Willis and John  Kameaaloha Almeida  acknowledged and always gave her due credit when he performed it, especially when Koko or other members of her family were in the audience. Confirmed by Pali Lee, wife of Koko Willis who died in 1994.
